Here is what the critics thought of Yuvvraaj :
ApunKaChoice.Com – Review by Nikhil Kumar
All said, ‘Yuvvraaj’ does have a few moments that touch your heart. Simple moments like the autistic Gyanesh taking the blame for a road accident by his brother Deven. Or another moment when Deven begs the doctor (Boman) to attend to his dying brother. There is a very good plot build-up right at the fag end when Gyanesh is poisoned minutes before a stage performance. But Ghai botches it up by adding too much melodrama to it. A little sensitivity and subtlety would have made the ending worth applauding.
Alas, that doesn’t happen. And what we get is just an avveraage ‘Yuvvraaj’.

BollywoodHungama.com – Review by Taran Adarsh
On the whole, YUVVRAAJ is interesting in parts, with the penultimate 20/25 minutes taking the film to an all-time high. At the box-office, the package [a mammoth cast, Subhash Ghai, A.R. Rahman, the stunning locales of Europe] should ensure a hearty opening and with no major opposition in the forthcoming week, it should keep its investors smiling.

HindustanTimes.com – Review by Khalid Mohamed
Sir, yes you are vulnerable. But it is better to be told by anyone — from a lay person to yours sincerely — about the uppers and downers. The direction is much too stagey, sir. Still, this film should never ever be your last one, Subhashji. You may not get roses and chocolates for this one… but here’s hoping and praying that you come back, re-charged for an entertainer that will match if not surpass Karz and Ram Lakhan. Yuvvraaj doesn’t. I end, still Ilu Ilu.

IndiaGlitz.com
As a whole, Yuvvraaj is splendiferous in all parts with exceptional performance by all and it’s a perfect family entertainer. With previous week’s releases gradually getting down on charts and no big releases awaited couple of weeks ahead, Subash Ghai can host a lavish party for the entire team as collections are sure to brim over producers’ sacs. Of course, A.R. Rahman should be ready tuning rock-blast party songs for his successful venture with Subash Ghai and so would be performers.
Verdict: Relishing best emotions on screen

NowRunning.com – Reveiw by Subhash K Jha
As in “Pardes” and “Yaadein”, Ghai questions joint-family values and the rapidly-changing equations in modern times. While pricking our collective conscience, “Yuvvraaj” rarely throws up a moment when we can’t look Ghai’s vision straight in the eye. It is among the finest films of 2008.

Meanwhile, out in the real world, the other Yuvraj has hit two back-to-back centuries and is hungry for more. Watch him instead.
