What: PETA’s eighth anniversary bash

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) celebrated its eighth anniversary in India recently. As a celebration, the animal rights organisation threw a party on January 11, 2008 at the ITC Grand Maratha in Mumbai.

John Abraham, Yana Gupta, Neetu Chandra, Aditya Pancholi, Ayub Khan, Rahul Dev, Tisca Chopra, Raveena Tandon (who came along with her husband Anil Thadani), Ravi Kishan, Narayani Shastri, Gaurav Chopra, Urvashi Dholakia, Anu Malik, Anju Mahendru, Hemant Trivedi, Soni Razdan, Kalpana Lajmi, Poonam Sinha, Mohinder Amarnath, Rupali Ganguly were present to show their support to the cause.

John Abraham, who is PETA’s brand ambassador, personally asked for donations from the guests and managed to collect close to Rs 4 lakhs for the organisation.

The premiere of Francis Lawrence’s ‘I Am Legend’ starring Will Smith was held at Fame Adlabs. Celebs from Bollywood and TV industry were seen having a great time at the premiere. The film is slated to release in India on December 14 in English, Hindi and Tamil and two weeks later in Telugu.

After the hugely successful run of Koffee with Karan, filmmaker Karan Johar has announced he will be a judge in a musical reality show called Say Shaava Shaava on the upcoming entertainment channel NDTV Imagine.

Hosted by Ali Asgar, the show launches in January. The contestants who will be showcasing their singing talent are established stars Aman Verma, Apoorva Agnihotri, Divyanka Tripathi, Juhi Parmar, Mouni Roy, Narayani Shastri, Pulkit Samrat and Sumeet Raghvan and the like.

K-Jo, along with viewers from across the country will select the best singer. The participant with the least scores and votes will be eliminated.

NDTV Imagine CEO Sameer Nair said, “We’re thrilled to have Karan on the show and I’m certain that he will bring his own brand of entertainment to his role as judge.”
