What: Nandita Thirani show at Lakme Fashion Week
Where: NCPA, Mumbai
When: October 24, 2008
“Tender Poison” was the name of Nandita Thirani’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection at Lakme Fashion Week where a mélange of fluid summer fabrics – silks, satins, chiffons and georgettes – with abstract flowers and the popular rose motif on black or nude, were eye catching.
Nandita embellished her fabrics with digital prints of canvas paintings, added hand painted patterns and detailing for her slim silhouettes of the 60s and some of the 70s, which turned her creations into stylish diffusion or ethnic wear.
Some of the highlights were the gathered swinging short skirt in nude chiffon, the draped kimono sleeve dress, the large pleated collar for a black jacket and the ribbon edged cross over black dress. Ending the show was Meera Pakistan’s popular actress in a long black gown with a brocade bodice.
