Looks like Rann is all set to be the new year’s first release to hit the bull’s eye at the box office. With positive pre-release reports and glowing trade reviews, Ram Gopal Varma’s keenly awaited drama is much in the news for its gripping storyline and first-rate performances.

On Wednesday night, Riteish Deshmukh, who is a part of the film’s talented ensemble cast, organised a special preview of the film for his close friends at PVR Juhu.

Those in attendance included Aftab Shivdasani, Zayed-Malaika Khan, Ashish-Samita Chaudhary, Chunky-Bhavna Pandey, Sanjay-Maheep Kapoor, Kumar Taurani of Tips, producers Indra Kumar, Ashok Thakeria, Vashu Bhagnani and Sajid Nadiadwala, Shirish Kunder, Sajid Khan, Sujoy Ghosh, Genelia D’Souza, Dia Mirza, Avinash Gowariker and Fardeen Khan, to name a few.

A star-studded premiere of Rann is the big event for Thursday evening and will be attended by the film’s protagonist, Amitabh Bachchan, and a host of A-list celebrities from the film industry.

Rann is out on Friday January 29 and is an Indian Films-Studio 18 international release.

Fruit and Nut is a madcap comedy with a central character named Jolly Maker, who is a simple, hard working middle class struggling bachelor in search of love, money, friends and success.

Dia Mirza was out of action for some time over the weekend as she was nursing a torn ligament in her left hand. The incident occurred while she was shooting a difficult scene for Shoojit Sircar’s Shoe-bite in Simla.

While trying to precariously slid into the rear seat of a car as it was parked on a steep slope, she balanced herself by clutching the boot of the vehicle. All was fine until a member of the unit unknowingly slammed the boot shut on Mirza’s hand, sending the entire unit into a panic.

Assuming the worst that Mirza had broken her fingers, she was rushed to a nearby hospital, with everyone wondering if she would be able to accomplish the shooting of some very significant scenes. Thankfully nothing was broken but she did sustain a torn ligament. Freezing weather conditions in Simla did nothing to ease the pain either, to say the least.

With medication and some caution on the actress’ part not to left anything heavy with her injured hand should help considerably in her recovery.

Bollywood will soon be welcoming another member of the Roshan family into its folds. Daughter of Rakesh and sister of Hrithik, Sunaina Roshan is making her debut as a producer. She and her father are producing Krazzy 4 together.

Adding to the family presence, Hrithik will be joining them in an item number for the film, as will SRK. February 15th is the day of the shoot for Hrithik. SRK has finished the shooting for his item song already.

Krazzy 4 stars Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan, Rajpal Yadav and Suresh Menon as four mentally unstable people who escape from the mental hospital in order to explore the world. Roshan tells us, “they are out on a one-day trip. The film goes on to show whether it is these four characters or the world that is actually crazy.”

Juhi Chawla plays a psychiatrist, while Rajat Kapoor essays her husband. Dia Mirza is also part of the film.

Krazzy 4 is directed by Jaideep Sen and is slated to release in April. The theatrical promos will be showcased along with the screening of Sunday.
