Simi - Welcome back to ICB Navin!

Navin – Thank you…always a pleasure!

Simi – I know your running on an extremely hectic schedule, so we won’t keep you long. Firstly though, a massive congratulations to you for winning the Entertainer of the Year Award in the Houses of Parliament at the Asian Voice Public Life & Political Awards!

Navin – Thank you…this award belongs to my fans because it wouldn’t have been possible without them. It is wonderful to receive the ‘Entertainer of the Year’ award in such a monumental place, and it is sitting proudly in my studio! (Smiles) I hope I can continue to entertain all of you for many more years to come!

Simi – We all certainly hope so too! Another thrill for you must have been to perform on stage with the King of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan.

Navin – Absolutely…he is the biggest Bollywood star of my generation and he is as charming in real life as he is on screen. I love that music is making each of my dreams come true and feel very blessed. It was my mum’s birthday that night and she was thrilled to meet King Khan too. I dedicated ‘Tere Liye’ to her that night when I sang it live, but I think SRK trumped me by blowing her a flying kiss!

Simi – Aww how sweet but I’m sure she was just as thrilled with your dedication of ‘Tere Liye’ to her! Now you’re here today to tell us about your brilliant new love song ‘Hamesha’, which means “Forever” in English. I have to say that I love the cover photo. Reminds me of the classic crooner Frank Sinatra look, even the way you are holding the vintage microphone; and the couple in a ballroom dance setting.

Because of this, at first play I was expecting to hear a song similar to another crooner Al Martino and his ‘Spanish Eyes’ song, in Hindi of course. However, being serenaded with your beautiful version of one of my all-time favorite R&B songs ‘Always and Forever’, originally by the group Heatwave was even more thrilling! You sing ‘Hamesha’ in Hindi and English and have given it a contemporary feel, keeping the ultimately romantic lyrics, and yet you kept true to your signature style which we all love! I just melted away, really. Brilliantly done Navin the way you’ve flawlessly intertwined all these elements and created a song all your own in that sense. To hear you sing in English is always a treat, but this time … wow! Your fan base is going to multiple with this hit for sure. You’re going to have so many wedding couples who’ll want this for their first dance as well, I’m betting!

It’s a different sound for you isn’t it, not just from your upbeat dance tracks but even from your other hit love songs ‘Tere Liye’ and ‘Aaja’, which also released on Valentine’s Day and did amazingly well?

Navin – Wow … well firstly, thank you so much for your kind words! I am really pleased that you like the song as much as you do and the reaction so far has been phenomenal! With ‘Hamesha’, I was determined to push myself vocally as well as create a record that has a different sound for a British Asian artist. It wouldn’t have been possible without my producer at Ealing Studios, Hank Hughes and my manager, Nyrone who was very hands on with this project because it is a cover of one of his favorite songs. Vee has also done a wonderful job on backing vocals and has a very bright future in the music industry. He is the younger brother of Hunterz who is an artist I am a huge fan of, and his outstanding talent runs in the family!

Simi – You definitely did push your vocals to new heights as you always do with your songs. And with ‘Hamesha’, it is certainly a different sound for a British Asian artist and we love it! Kudos for you and everyone who was involved for creating such a brilliant record!

Up until now your releases have always been songs composed by you. What made you choose ‘Always and Forever’ to cover for this release?

Navin – When I first heard the song, I fell in love with it and every time I heard it thereafter, it grew on me even more. There are very few songs that have that same effect and I wanted my fans and the wider audience to experience that too. It was important for me to switch it up and put my own stamp on the song to bring the fusion authentically. I really enjoyed getting behind the mic to sing this one!

Simi – Yes, I remember it having the same effect on me, both Heatwaves’ original and the cover by Luther Vandross. Now this song will be even more special with your cover in Hindi and English!

Why gift it to your fans at no charge to them, and how can they get a copy?

Navin – Because that’s what Valentine’s Day is about – giving someone a gift of love and this is my way of saying thank you and showing love to all of you who have supported me thus far. You can get a free copy here.

Simi – And ‘Hamesha’ is without a doubt a very beautiful gift of love from your heart. Everyone who receives it should consider themselves special to the ones who gift it to them.

I know you have to leave us but before you go is there anything you wanted to say to your fans?

Navin – Just Happy Valentine’s Day to all my Mehboobas in advance! And to all the fellas out there…download a copy of this and gift it to that special woman in your life – I’ve got your back! (Smiles)

Simi - Thank you so much Navin for being with us today and for your beautiful new release which we will all have on constant repeat – ‘Hamesha’!

Navin – Many thanks for your continued support Simi and Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!

‘Hamesha’ will be released worldwide on the 14th February 2013, available for free download from Navin’s Official Website.
