Mukesh Asopa Receiving Golden Ace Award -LVFF 2009
The Las Vegas Film Festival (LVFF) gave a resounding applause as Mukesh Asopa claimed one of the coveted Golden Ace Awards this year (April 9-12, 2009) for his film Aisha and Rahul. The event took place at the Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel, Las Vegas’ newest hotel resort.
The LVFF offers a creative outlet to some of the film world’s best storytellers and innovators and as can be seen by the above, the cast and crew of Aisha and Rahul fit that very description.
LVFF’s mission is to highlight the finest cinema the world has to offer, bridge the gap between independent film audiences and filmmakers, and connect emerging filmmakers with established industry professionals.
The Canada International Film Festival (CIFF) too was pleased to congratulate the cast and crew of Aisha and Rahul for their ranking as one of its 2009 Official Finalists under the feature film category. They placed along with nineteen other films out of thousands from over 90 countries.
Firmly established among the top film festivals in Canada, the CIFF took place, as it does each year at the Firehall Arts Centre, which is located in the heart of beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia on February 7 and 8.
The CIFF’s purpose is to create opportunities for independent filmmakers and the film-going community to come together for an artistic exchange of new and exciting ideas, through panels, seminars, intimate gatherings and parties.
Aisha and Rahul is a story about a typical desi girl brought up in the western world a boy from India new to the West, who by chance meet in a coffee shop. It is a story about their very close friendship, which eventually develops into more.
The cast members are: Mukesh Asopa (Rahul), Jas Dhanda (Aisha), Kamal Nandi, Zahir Gilani, Yasmen Khan, Tree Ryde, F. Llyod Foster/Righteous Allah, Haris Nadeem, Kenia Del Toro-Dancer, Robbie Beniuk and Khushi Pandya.
We congratulate the cast and crew of Aisha and Rahul once again for their outstanding accomplishments as we look forward to their winning at other film festivals this year.
