The British filmmaker Danny Boyle (A Life Less Ordinary, 28 Days Later, The Beach and Trainspotting) is in Mumbai finalizing the cast and will begin shooting his film Slumdog Millionaire. It is based on Indian version of the well-known reality show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (Kaun Banega Crorepati).

The story of the film is about an 18 year old illiterate slum kid named Aamir who does extremely well on KBC. The twist being that both the viewers and the producers sense that he has done so by unscrupulous methods. This opinion doesn’t bother Aamir much at all as the only reason he chose to be on the show in the first place was to win back his girlfriend Latika. Since Latika is a huge fan of KBC, Aamir hopes that by her watching him on it, she will return to him.

Who will be playing the host of the show? With the original KBC having both Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan as the host, Boyle approached both of them with the offer to play the quizmaster in the film. Yet, it looks like there is another actor who has actually bagged the role … Anil Kapoor.

The love story will be shot extensively in and around India.
